Nancy Rae Libby, a long-time resident of Modesto and the beloved "Voice of Save Mart" for 30 years, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2026, just shy of her 88th birthday. Born on September 15, 1938, in Visalia, California, Nancy was the daughter of Bob and Lucille Libby. In 1940, her family relocated to Fresno, where she grew up and later graduated from Fresno High School in 1956. Nancy eventually made her home in Modesto in 1973, where she became a staple of the community. For three decades, Nancy was the friendly receptionist and official voice greeting everyone
who interacted with Save Mart’s corporate offices. Known for her positive attitude and charming personality, she brought joy to everyone she met. Everyone who knew Nancy knew
her true passions: she was the proud, original "crazy cat lady." Her loves in life were her cherished fur babies, traveling and a good shopping trip. Nancy’s warmth and bright spirit will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and the community she served for so long. She is survived by her daughter, Linda; her son, Gary; her
son-in-law, Joseph; her brother, Dennis, and sister-in-law, Norma.
A service celebrating Nancy’s life will be held on Wednesday, September 16th, at 11:00 AM in the Heritage Chapel at Lakewood Memorial Park (Hughson, California).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you honor Nancy's memory and her deep love for animals with a donation to your local animal shelter
