Omer Berry, age 95, passed away at his home. Born in Deer, Arkansas, Omer was raised in a Southern Baptist Church. He loved to hut, fish, and smoke his pipe. His favorite activities included good food, good company, telling stories about his youth, and baseball. He always attended family gatherings, special occasions, plus canned and froze food grown in his large garden, alongside his wife of 71 years, Audrey.
In his youth he worked in timber, following the work from state to state, then moved to Emeryville, California and worked at Myers Barrell Yard, then back to Kansas City, but that wasn’t a good fit, so back to California he went, settling in Modesto, where Omer worked in cold storage. He then moved to Pleasant Hill, working again at Meyers Barrell Yard, then joined the Boiler Makers Union and worked at a tank company welding and other jobs associated with huge liquid tanks.
Omer retired to Grass Valley and lived there for for numerous years before returning to Modesto.
