Patsy Jeannette Baker Anderson, age 87, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2025, at her daughter Chris's home in Stockton, California. Born on March 30, 1938, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, she was the daughter of Luther Boyd and Gretha (Rudy) Baker.
Patsy married James Maryland Anderson Sr. on April 9, 1955, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania. They shared 26 years of marriage, welcoming five beautiful children into the world: James Maryland Jr., Malinda Victoria, Angela Michelle, Mark Luther, and Chris Jeannette. The family eventually moved from Pennsylvania to Pomona, California, and later settled in Stockton, where Patsy worked for many years in the duplication department of the Stockton Unified School District.
Patsy was a devoted mother and grandmother, cherishing her family and the time spent together, especially during the holidays. She had a special tradition of sending cards with $2 tucked inside to her grandchildren on their birthdays—a simple gesture that brought gladness and was fondly remembered by them as they grew older.
An avid fan of game shows such as Jeopardy, Family Feud, and The Price Is Right, Patsy found pleasure in playing BINGO twice a week and enjoyed tackling crossword puzzles. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she dedicated time every morning to pray and read her Bible.
Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, Luther B. and Gretha Baker; her brother, Jack (Joann) Baker; her former husband, James M. Anderson Sr.; and her beloved children, James M. Anderson Jr. and Malinda Victoria Anderson Dixon.
She leaves behind a loving legacy, survived by her children, Angela M. (Earl) Smith Sr. of Stockton, CA; Mark L. (Tammie) Anderson of Modesto, CA; and Chris J. (Andre) Girley of Stockton, CA; along with 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, her niece Jacqueline Baker Williams, her nephew John Baker, her lifelong best friend Virginia Dockery, and a host of friends.
Patsy was greatly loved and will be truly missed by all who knew her.
A celebration of Patsy’s life will be held on September 12, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Lakewood Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 900 Santa Fe Ave., Hughson, CA. The family invites friends and loved ones to join in honoring her memory.
