

Paul was born in Charleston, Indiana, and lived in Muskogee, Oklahoma before moving to Modesto in 1963. He worked as a shop and math teacher at Downey High School for 20 years before retiring and starting his own handyman business, which he maintained until his second retirement at 90 years old.
After graduating from high school he proudly served in the US Air Force in World War II in England as a maintenance engineer for B-24 bombers. When he returned home, Paul finished College at Notheastern State University, OK at Tahlequah while working full time. While teaching in Modesto he went back to San Jose State and earned a Masters degree in Education.
Paul married the former Connie Dixon on July 19, 1945. The happy couple recently celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary. Paul enjoyed his family, including son, Jim Howard, two grandchildren Paul and Kellia, and one great grandchild, Rylan.
Paul and Connie enjoyed traveling, with visits to England, Germany, Italy, France, Hawaii, and Alaska. Their favorite location was England, where they returned for multiple visits with newfound friends.
Pauls skills as a mechanic were a wonder to all who knew him. There wasn't a problem too small or large for him to fix, whether mechanical, electrical, engineering, or design. Paul was best known for his generosity and kindness, always putting others first. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Modesto.
He is preceeded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, and one sister. He is survived by his wife Connie, son Jim, grand children, and nieces and nephews from Oklahoma, New York, Texas, and Sacramento.
A memorial service will be held at Lakewood Memorial Park in Hughson on Wednesday January 2 at 1pm.
