

Rebecca Viola Byars Clover, 84, of Modesto, California, passed away peacefully on April 7th, 2026. She was born on May 13, 1941, in San Francisco, California, and also lived in Merced, Modesto, and Stockton during her life.
Rebecca was married to George T. Clover for 13 years and was a proud and devoted mother to her surviving children and their spouses: George S. Clover (Robin), Melinda Clover Boyer, and Clifford Clover (Deanna). She was a loving grandmother to eight grandchildren, Julie Clover McFadden, Andrew Clover, Jeffrey Boyer, Gregory Clover, Ashley Boyer David, Matthew Boyer, Connor Clover, and Corinne Clover. She has seven great-grandchildren, nieces Michelle Meshi, Carrie Kilfoil, and nephews Bretton McClure and Jeremy Byars. They all brought her immense joy!
Her educational accomplishments include a Bachelor's Degree from Stanislaus State University and her advanced Teaching Credentials, including a Special Education Credential from the University of the Pacific. Upon achieving her educational goals, she was able to dedicate the next 25 years of her life as an exceptional Special Education Teacher. Rebecca had a deep passion for helping others, both in her career and in her community. She volunteered at the State Hospital, served on the Board of Directors for NAMI, and was a committed political activist for causes close to her heart. She was also a part of the "Daughters of the American Revolution." Rebecca had a vibrant and creative spirit. She was a prolific artist who created a children’s book featuring many of her pastel paintings, and spent many years with the Stockton Civic Theatre. This led to her managing sound and lighting for performances, and also some acting experience. She had a love for dancing and maintained an active lifestyle, running five miles a day well into her 50s.
A devoted patriot she was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and active member of her church, Rebecca lived her life with conviction, compassion, and purpose. She was outgoing and very social, with a presence that could light up any room. Above all, she was a deeply devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will be remembered for her warmth, strength, and unwavering love.
She was preceded in death by her parents Tandy Douglas and Ruby Oushani Byars, son, Alan Clover; her brother, Dr. Douglas Byars; and her sisters, Barbara McClure and Nancy Byars.
Services will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at 3:00 p.m.
