Richard William Nix

Richard was preceded in death by his parents James and Virginia Breunig and his brothers Lee and Robert Nix and sister Ann Eversoll.

Richard served in the United States Air Force form 1952-1972 as a firefighter. During the Vietnam War he was stationed in Thailand where he served on a crash and rescue helicopter. After retiring he served an additional 22 years for the Department of Defense working as a firefighter at Castle Air Force Base.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all. Richard is survived by his wife Greta, daughter Susan (Tim) Bomgardner, son Rick Nix and grandchildren Mike Nelson, Rachel and Matthew Bomgardner all of Waterford, Tommy Nix of Santa Clarita, CA and his sister Betty (John) Parsons of Modesto.

Richard loved antique cars and was an active member of the Oakdale Model A club. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a 50plus year member of the Masonic Lodge in Blytheville, Arkansas

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Modesto Gospel Mission or Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 27th at Lakewood and a Funeral Service will be at 10 o’clock Wednesday morning, December 28th.
