passed away peacefully at home on Thursday June 13th, 2019 at the age of 81.
Robert was born on November 28th 1937 to Robert Corkery and Lucille Corkery
in Redwood City. Robert was married to Janice Corkery on July 13th, 1994
and together shared his two sons and her five daughters.
Robert Graduated from Sequoia High School in 1956. He
then join the United States Air Force where he trained and served in communications.
He was first stationed in Cheyenne Wyoming,
eventually traveling to Newburgh New York,
Thule Greenland and finishing his military service in Texas.
He was discharged honorably to Redwood City where he
finished his education and Graduated from San Francisco State University with a Masters Degree.
Following his Graduation he moved to Modesto Ca. and began his career
as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist for the Visually Handicapped
with Stanislaus County office of education receiving a “Golden Handshake” in June 1994 for over 26 years of working as a orientation and mobility instructor.
He retired at the age of 68.
Robert was a genuinely generous and caring Husband, Father and Grandfather.
He loved to teach and share his knowledge. He loved working with his students, He loved cars and airplanes especially War Planes, he loved history. He enjoyed
gourmet cooking, and was a very good cook, he enjoyed the outdoors and taking nature walks and traveling.
Robert is preceded in death by his wife Janice Corkery just three months prior.
He is survived by his two sons Steve Corkery and Todd Corkery
And his five Daughters, Tawnie Barnes, Carrie Killibrew, Debra Jaynes, Lisa Ivey, and Melanie Bond.
Robert had 20 Grandchildren and 30 great Grandchildren.
A graveside Interment service will be held on Saturday June 29th, 2019 at
Lakewood Memorial Park in the Garden of Valor at 900 Sante Fe, Hughson , Ca.95326.
