Roy was born September 26, 1933 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to Ivan and Sula Mae (Dehart) Morrison. He graduated from Modesto High School in 1952 and soon thereafter, he began his career in the United States Air Force. On July 18, 1956 he married, Fernande, his wife of nearly 60 years in Tangier, Morocco. Roy was known to be a hard worker with boundless talents and abilities. He served our country in Korea and Vietnam, as an Explosives Ordinance Disposal (EOD) specialist, where he received numerous honors, including the Bronze Star for performing technically demanding and dangerous tasks worldwide. In 1973, after serving 22 years, Roy retired from the US Air Force. Following his retirement, he resumed his education, earning his Associates Degree from Modesto Junior College with top honors. Roy completed a second career with E & J Gallo Wineries as a refrigeration mechanic. It was his tenure with Gallo that sparked interest in farming. Roy spent the remainder of his working life growing and harvesting almonds. He so enjoyed farming that he only retired a few years prior to his passing. He enjoyed working on cars, tractors and farm equipment. He also enjoyed 4 wheeling, camping, hunting and shooting sports with his wife, children and grandchildren.
Roy is survived by his wife, Fernande, children, Arland Morrison, Daniel Morrison and his wife Alison Rafalovich, and Deborah (Morrison) Kaufman and her husband Brent of Lander, Wyoming; seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, his sister LuEllen Caulton of Ceres and brother, Jerry Morrison of Sonora. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Linda, his parents, Ivan and Sula Mae, and his brothers, Bobbie and Dale.
A Celebration of his Life will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, March 11, 2016 at Lakewood Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 900 Santa Fe Avenue, Hughson, California. Remembrances may be made to Optima Hospice Care.
