Ruby Lee Snyder , March 6th 1929 - April 9th 2018 Ruby was born Ruby Lee Humphrey , March 6th 1929 in Alred Arkansas. She was one of eleven children. She had six brothers and four sisters. She was the youngest daughter and the eighth of the eleven children. The family moved to the west coast in 1934 and lived in various western states until finally settling in Modesto Ca. She left home at fifteen years old and moved to Redlands Ca. Where she met and married her husband Jerry Snyder in 1945. They moved to Modesto for about two years before moving to Cottage Grove Oregon , where they built their first home on the edge of Dorena lake. They enjoyed the first ten years of their marriage jumping into their yellow convertible Lincoln with their blue eyed border collie Butch at any time they choose to chase the moon as they called it. They returned to Modesto in 1953 bought a home near Modesto Junior College and welcomed their son Steven Snyder in 1955 , four years later they had a daughter Sandra Snyder. Ruby was a homemaker who's home was always impeccable, never having anything out of place, people would often comment that her home was so clean you could eat from her floors. She was known for her Fluffy Dinner Rolls and her Lemon Meringue Pies as well as her Sticky Buttermilk Pancakes. As her children grew up they saw her as being overly strict , but as they grew in wisdom they knew her moral standards were only for their love and protection in which they were grateful. She became a grandmother January sixth ,1978 when Steve's first son Brandon was born. He was the 1st of 5 grandchildren which she adored. She always made herself available to babysit or just spend time with them. They were Brandon , Justin and Breann Snyder and Ashley and Adam Draffen. In the last seven years she has been showered with 11 great grand children, Harlow, Seraphine, Ruby, and Elisa Gomez, Jerry and Nancy Snyder, Serenity and Christian Guitron, Shyne Snyder, and Josephine Draffen and Jack Lorbiecki. In the later years of her life, one of her greatest joys was holding and visiting with her great grandchildren, especially the babies. She loved to hold and sing to the children while she rocked them, and she would be content doing that for hours.Ruby always spoke her mind and never caved with the times. If things did not line up with what she believed to be Gods moral standards she wanted no part of it for herself or her children. she was the best wife, mother, and grandmother she could have possibly been. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on April 9th 2018.
