

Shirley Anne (Nield) Moody, 80, of Modesto, passed away, November 22, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Hayward, California, she was the daughter of the late Stanley George Nield and Lois Delores (Hendricks) Nield.
Shirley was raised in Hayward, California. There, she attended and graduated from Hayward High School and went on to receive a business degree at San Francisco City College. Shortly after college, she met Don Moody. They married a year later and started their family in Cupertino until moving to Sunnyvale and eventually settled in Modesto in 1986. Shirley worked for Sears, Carriage Trade Dinner Club, H&R Block, was a real estate agent for a few years, and last worked/retired from the medical records department at Stanislaus County. Shirley was also an enrolled agent and operated a tax preparation business for many years. Shirley was a volunteer with the American Cancer Society over 10 years.
She was the mother of Donna (Moody) Stephens (husband, Gary Stephens), Debbie Ann (Moody) Monk (husband, Duane Monk). She was the grandmother of Joshua Stephens, Jeremy Stephens and Daniel Monk. She was sister of the late Richard Nield (wife, Maria Nield) and an aunt to Richard and Steven Nield.
Foremost, Shirley enjoyed her grandchildren who brought her so much laughter and love. She cherished them, and it was evident that she was the strength and glue that kept the family close. She enjoyed traveling and had been to many parts of the world. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, loved to play Bingo, Bunco and Texas Hold’em. Shirley will be remembered for both her smile and contagious laugh.
