A dedicated employee of Save Mart Supermarkets for nearly 38 years, Steve was preparing to retire in the coming year. Known for his hard work, integrity, and feisty personality, Steve served as both a receiver and union steward, forming countless friendships along the way. He truly never met a stranger.
A passionate sports fan, Steve especially loved football and hockey. He and his lifelong best friend, Tony Conway, once held season tickets to the San Jose Sharks. Steve also proudly cheered on the football teams of the colleges his children attend/attended. His loyalty and enthusiasm were contagious, and his joy in rooting for his teams was unmatched. Another passion of Steve’s was traveling. Some of the most special times of his life were spent on the beaches of Hawaii or the trails of a National Park. He was so excited to plan a visit to Scotland for his retirement trip and would send itinerary ideas to his family constantly.
In 1999, Steve married the love of his life, Josie Mireles. Together, they built a beautiful and loving family. Steve is survived by his devoted wife Josie, his daughter June Calvillo (25) and her husband James Calvillo, his sons Elijah Mireles (20), Ethan Mireles (16), his father Felipe Mireles, and his sister Lisa Batista. He was a beloved husband, father, and father-in-law. He was preceded in death by his mother, Cheryl Graves Mireles.
