

Thell Clinton Jamison, age 86, died in Green Valley, Arizona on Tuesday, February 16, 2016. He had been suffering with Alzheimer’s for the past 5 years. He was born April 6, 1929 in Hutchinson, Kansas to Thell and Ruby Jamison, Thell attended Empire Grammar School and graduated from Modesto High School in 1946. Thell served in the Army and was a member of the 82nd Airborne and was honorably discharged in February 1954, attaining the rank of Sargent. Shortly after his senior year of high school he met his sweetheart, Loa Joyce Taylor and they were married on June 11, 1950 at the Empire Church of the Brethren. They have been married for 65 years and were blessed with four children, Janis, Jeffrey, Joni & Joel. Thell lived most of his life in Modesto, California, where he began working for Heiney’s Meat Locker as a meat cutter starting at age 17. After his service in the Army he worked for the United States Postal Service in Modesto for 35 years. He began enjoying his retirement at the age of 53. In 2003 Thell and Joyce relocated to Green Valley Arizona. Thell was a member of Empire Church of the Brethren where his family attended services. He believed in Jesus and raised his children in the same church he and Joyce were married in. Thell will be especially remembered for being a hardworking man who was a great provider for his family. He was a very proud man with a great sense of humor, he loved his family and close friends immensely. Thell had many interests and hobbies which included bowling with his wife, playing cards, spending time with his grandchildren, camping with family and friends and cruising the Caribbean. He especially enjoyed his many fishing trips to Alaska.
Thell is survived by his wife Loa Joyce Jamison from Green Valley, Arizona, his daughter Janis Gilbert from Modesto, CA, his son Jeffrey Jamison from Modesto, CA, his daughter Joni & son-in-law Dave Gianotti from Arizona, his son Joel Jamison from Northern CA, 8 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. He is also survived by this sister Evelyn Butler Fowler. Thell was preceded in death by his mother and father.
Graveside Services will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, February 26th at Lakewood Memorial Park at 900 Santa Fe Ave, Hughson, CA. Relatives and friends are welcome on Thursday to come to Lakewood Memorial Park for a viewing from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. Memorial contributions can be given to the American Cancer Society or The Alzheimer’s Foundation in memory of Thell Clinton Jamison
