

Thelma Darlene Gonsalves was born February 22, 1937 in Orchard, Nebraska and died peacefully on March 25, 2019 surrounded by family at the Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson, California. She is preceded in death by her husband William "Bill" Gonsalves and by her youngest son Lonnie Anderson. She is also preceded in death by her parents Ada and E.G. Hilterbrand and her older sister Wilda Cox. She is survived by a large family that includes her son Gary (Virginia) Anderson of Fallon, Nevada, daughters Sheree (Casey) Frazier of Manteca, Beth (David) McKenna of Rocklin, Judy (Rick) Periera of Ceres, Sandra Hendricks of Modesto, and Toni Holmboe of Turlock. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind by her brother Earl Hilterbrand and her sister Esther (Danny) Wallace, both of Modesto, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Thelma lived much of her life in Modesto but lived the last couple of years in Oakdale at the home of her son Lonnie Anderson. There she was cared for by her son Lonnie up until his death and the wonderful Mistie Fannon who loved her as if she were her own mother. She and Mistie had great times together be it swinging on her porch swing outside and taking shopping trips to the local thrift store. She graduated Modesto High School in 1955. She worked a variety of jobs in her life but spent the 20 years before her retirement working at Orchard Supply Hardware. She took pride in her job there and always loved that she had a card that got her 20% off at the store because she retired from there. Thelma loved being married to Bill and together they raised 7 children and 2 grandchildren. There will be a graveside service April 8, 2019 at Lakewood Memorial Park in Hughson, California at 11:00AM, with a small reception to follow at the event center at Lakewood. Remembrances may be made to Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson, California.
