May 10, 1931 – July 14, 2025
Walter “Travis” Long, 94, of Ceres, California, entered peacefully into eternal rest surrounded by his loving family early morning on Monday July 14th. Born, May 10, 1931, in Atoka, Oklahoma, Travis lived a full and vibrant life rooted in the values of hard work and with a deep love and dedication to his family.
Travis enjoyed 72 years of marriage to the love of his life, Peggy Joyce Long. Their devoted marriage and friendship to one another is a shining example for all to marvel. Together they raised four daughters and built a legacy filled with love, laughter, and lasting memories. Above all, Travis cherished his family. He was a proud husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather all of whom are the light of his life. Never missing an opportunity to cheer on his cherished children and grandchildren, especially at their sporting event; offering his unwavering support with the pride reserved for the most admiring grandfather. Through his actions more than words, his family always knew the depth of his love. A proud veteran, Travis served our country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. After his military service, he completed a remarkable career as a heavy equipment operator remaining with the Operating Engineers Local 3 for 66 years. Known for his strong work ethic and integrity, he was deeply respected in his field. He had a passion for the outdoors, joining his golf buddies in their weekly foursome or perhaps a day on the water skillfully coaxing fish onto his hook. It was no secret Travis loved the thrill of visiting a nearby casino, leisurely putting in his time testing his skills and perhaps hoping for a bit of luck playing the slot machines. A lifelong sports fan, he tirelessly cheered on the Dallas Cowboys and the San Francisco Giants. Travis is proud of his membership in the Fraternal Order of Freemasons and throughout his life upheld their values of brotherhood and community. His strength, humor, and kind spirit will be deeply missed by all of us.
Travis is proceeded in death by his youngest daughter Melissa Ollar who passed into eternal rest August 7th in the year 2000. He is survived by his wife Peggy, three daughters Debra Long, Travissa Robinson, Stephanie Copner, His sister Bobby Jarrett, Six grandchildren and Twelve great-grandchildren.
