

Violet Virginia Bump Rumbaugh passed quietly in her home with her 3 daughters at her side 3 hours before her 94th birthday. She was the youngest of 12 siblings born to Cordelia Sue Fogleman and Cyrus Perry Bump in Claremore Oklahoma. Virginia graduated from Taiwah High School 6 months after she married Curtis Howard Rumbaugh. They brought three daughters with them in 1947 to begin their lives in Modesto, California. Her career as a psychiatric technician at Modesto State Hospital began shortly thereafter. When the hospital closed, she began many years as a bookkeeper for Calvary Temple and the Christian School there. She was very involved with Women's Missionary Council through those years. She was at the birth of several of her nine grandchildren. That was between trips she and Curt were making in their motorhome with family or the EZ Rollers Traveling Club from Calvary Temple.
They traveled to Mexico and Canada and dozens of states in the U.S. She was married to Curt for the 65 years between 1941 and 2006 when he died at the age of 90. She was predeceased by her parents, her siblings and their spouses, son-in-law Jerry Fliehr and a grandson Stephen Fliehr. She is survived by her three daughters, Beverly Neil (Doug), Helene Hill (James), and Brenda Cockrell, (Walt) . She has nine grandchildren, 27 great grand children, and many nieces and nephews.She lived a large and fulfilled life, with family and her home at the center. Her life was blessed by her walk with the Lord, and guided by the hope of eternal life with Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior. She will be remembered as hard-working and energetic, a talented homemaker, and a gifted "Green Thumb." Friends and family are invited to a graveside service at 9 a.m. on Friday May 11th at Lakewood Memorial Park in Hughson California. Please bring your memories to share at a reception immediately following the service.
