

Wayne Stratton Brooks, age 75, passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. Wayne was born December 18, 1936 in Englewood, CO to parents Howard S. and Elsie Brooks. He lived in Colorado and Idaho until the family moved to Salida, CA in 1950. He attended Modesto High School, graduating Class of 1955. Wayne was very proud to serve in the Marine Corp, and it was then, during his 3 years of service, that he married his wife Jackie on September 21, 1957. They settled in Modesto, CA, where he later retired from PG&E after 35 years of service. Wayne stayed active playing city league softball, bowling, hunting, and fishing. With his strong passion for music, he played lead guitar in his band, The Dalton Gang for many years. Later in life, he discovered golf, which he and Jackie enjoyed together. He was also a proud member of the Silver Panthers. Wayne will be deeply missed by his family, and all those who were lucky to have known him. Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Jacqueline Brooks; his four daughters, Julie Shaver (Rick), Erin Primofiore (Dino), Teri McGhee (Mario), and Debra Schell (Tom); his sister Carolyn Luth (John) and brother-in-law Chuck Henry. He also had 9 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and 1 more on the way. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to American Diabetes Association.
