William "Vernon" Spears

William "Vernon" Spears, age 84 of Modesto, CA., passed away

in Hughson, CA. at Alexander Cohen Hospice House on Monday

October 24th. Vernon was born in Anderson, Missouri to parents

Dixon Spears and Edith (Braden) Spears.

Vernon was employed by James Marathon Paper Products in

Modesto for 23 years.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 3rd from 4:00 PM

to 8:00 PM, with a chapel service on Friday, November 4th at

2:00 PM, both at Lakewood Funeral Home (Heritage Chapel),

900 Santa Fe Ave., Hughson, CA., 95326.

Vernon was born in Anderson, MO on June 24, 1927.

He passed at the Alexander Cohen Hospice House on

October 24, 2011. He is survived by his loving companion

of 17 years, Shirley Marcus; and her children Mariann Paso,

Vicki Gentleman, David Gentleman and James Gentleman.

He is survived by his daughter, Deborah Spears-Wilson.

Also survived by his sisters and brother; Ann Henson,

Bernell O'Neal and Frankie Spears, all reside in Arkansas.

Preceded in death by sister, Bernice Holt and brothers,

Howard and Raymond Spears. 8 Grandchildren and

3 great grandchildren.

Vernon was employed as a lineworker at James River Corp.

for 23 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, counrty music

and spending time with his family.

Viewing and services will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home,

Hughson, CA. Viewing: Nov. 3rd, 2011 from 4-8pm.

Funeral: Nov. 4th, 2011 at 2pm. Both at Heritage Chapel.
