He leaves behind his beautiful wife of 53 years, Janey (McGuire). Michael was the proud father of Leah (Chris), Erin and Krista. He was also the loving Poppy to his precious granddaughter Zoë.
Michael was born in Renfrew, Ontario, the son of Michael and Marjorie, and brother to Barbara, Marjorie (Randy), Alec (Cairn), George (Lois) and Edward.
He was a well respected educator with the Ottawa Catholic School Board at St. George’s and St.Joseph’s schools.
He then enjoyed a second career spanning 20 years hand cutting wooden jigsaw puzzles in custom made cedar boxes.
His favourite pastimes were listening to music, especially Elvis, playing golf, watching hockey & baseball and spending time in Hawaii. But above all else, he loved laughing and talking to everyone and anyone. Namely his friends who became family over 50 plus years: Michael & Gail, Nellie & Pat, Kenny & Anne, John & Judy and Colleen & Danny.
Michael’s family would like to thank the caring staff of the first floor at CHSLD Lionel-Emond in Hull.
Visitation will occur on Friday September 13th at 12:30pm at St. Mark's Evangelist Church, 160 rue Principale, Gatineau, Quebec. A funeral mass to follow at 1:30pm. Reception will be held at The British.
