Alfred “AL” Jallans was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on December 2, 1923 and died in The Woodlands, Texas on May 10, 2017. Son of Harold and Hilda Jallans, Alfred “AL” Jallans served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the Mariana Islands.
He married Gladys Baham on September 16, 1950 and moved to Texas in 1952. For 44 years, he worked for Southwestern Bell Telepone. AL was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He spent his free time with his family, traveling the world, square dancing with Gladys, and worshipping at St. Simon and Jude Catholic Church. He loved eating Cajun food, watching Western movies, and fixing anything around the house. Until his death, AL also volunteered at the Gathering Place in memory of his wife and participated in Love Lighters and a weekly line dancing class.
AL was preceded in death by his loving wife, Gladys Jallans and his son, Douglas Jallans. He is survived by his son Gregory Jallans and wife Leslie of Houston, his daughter Connie Riley of Irving, five grandchildren and five great grandsons. He will be remembered by his family as a loving, faithful, charismatic, and fun pillar of strength for all of those he loved.
