Joy was born January 6,1945 in Owensboro, Daviess County, the daughter of Anna Ruth and Emitt Newbolt.
Joy graduated from Owensboro Senior High school in 1963, then went on to Western Kentucky business college.
Joy married her high school sweet heart Charles “Charlie” Tichenor on March 13,1965, at Third Baptist Church in Owensboro, KY. Happily married for 60 years, Joy and Charlie had one daughter, Sara Ann Tichenor on February 21, 1973.
Joy worked as a secretary at Lincoln Federal Savings and Loans, switchboard operator at Southern Bell, Realtor, administrative assistant at North Harris College…much more but her favorite job she had was being a wife and mother.
Joy especially loved anything crafty; knitting, painting, customizing towels, ornaments and anything else she could get her hands on. She loved the outdoors and spending time with her family, telling stories of the trouble that she and her siblings would get into when they were younger.
Joy was a member of North Woods Baptist church for many years, helping out with the GA ( girls in action) for her granddaughter and was always a bright light for everyone around her.
Her smile and laughter left a lasting impression on everyone she was around, making our lives so much better. You are our sunshine and we will look for you in the sunrises and sun sets. Love you more.
