Brent Laswell, 76, of Spring, Texas, passed away on June 19, 2026. Born September 15, 1949, in Richmond, Kentucky, Brent Robert Laswell was the son of Jack and Dorothy Laswell. Throughout his life, Brent carried himself with steady decency and quiet integrity, remembered as a gentleman whose faith and sincerity shaped the way he moved through the world.
Brent graduated from Eastern Kentucky University, earning both a B.A. and M.A. degrees. His early ambitions reflected a thoughtful spirit and a wide-ranging curiosity—first imagining life at sea as a sailor, and later aspiring to become a German and history teacher.
A devoted Catholic, Brent found meaning in tradition, fellowship, and the places where history still feels close. He enjoyed a good TV show and had a special fondness for wiener dogs. He also held a deep enthusiasm for collecting beersteins and was a member of multiple collecting clubs; through that shared interest, he formed many valued friendships. In the same spirit, he enjoyed visiting historical towns, taverns, and small historical Catholic cemeteries, appreciating the stories held in old streets and quiet grounds. He loved good food and the warmth of a good party atmosphere with friends.
Brent was preceded in death by his parents, Jack L. Laswell and Dorothy J. Laswell, and his grandparents Jak and Stella Laswell, Robert and Rachel Shortell.
Visitation will be held at Calvary Hill Funeral Home and Cem, 21723 Aldine-Westfield Road, Humble, TX 77338, US, on July 10, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. A Celebration of Life will follow at the same location on July 10, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
In Brent’s own words, he would like to be remembered as “a nice guy who tried to do his best.” That simple wish reflects the life he lived—marked by kindness, honesty, and a genuine regard for others.
