Brig De Leon Jr.

Brigido “Brig” De Leon, Jr., a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2025, in College Station, Texas, at the age of 76. Born on March 25, 1949, in Mission, Texas, to Brigido and Arcelia De Leon, Brig spent his life pouring love, laughter, and wisdom into everyone fortunate enough to know him.

On June 16, 1973, Brig married the love of his life, Rosemary Bermea, in Lubbock, Texas. For over 52 beautiful years, their love story unfolded—one of unwavering devotion, shared triumphs, and the strength to endure heartbreaking losses. Together, they built a family grounded in faith in each other, resilience, and unconditional love.

Brig lived his life with a generous heart and an open spirit. He was a devoted son, a loyal brother, a steadfast husband, a nurturing father, and a grandfather who took immeasurable pride in his four grandchildren. To his family and friends, he was a safe harbor—a man whose smile could light a room and whose laughter made every gathering feel whole.

A proud graduate of Texas Tech University, Brig carried his Red Raider spirit into every corner of his life. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures: sharing meals of traditional Tex-Mex with family, golfing on a wide fairway, savoring a cold IPA, and filling the air with music. Blues and Tejano were the soundtrack of his happiest days, punctuated by his unmistakable grito echoing at backyard barbecues.

Brig loved with his whole heart, and his presence left an imprint that words can never fully capture. His absence will be felt in quiet mornings, family tables, laughter-filled evenings, and in every moment where his voice would have steadied or his embrace would have comforted. His memory will live on in the stories told, the values he instilled, and the love he gave so freely.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Rosemary De Leon; his sons and daughters-in-law, David and Nancy De Leon of College Station, Texas, and Dax and Erin Furry De Leon of Austin, Texas; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Jorge and Connie De Leon of Lubbock, Texas, Danny and Lolly De Leon of Elk City, Oklahoma, and Sally De Leon of Kingwood, Texas; and his grandchildren, Tara, Miles, Tristan, and Sebastien De Leon.

Brig was welcomed into eternal rest by his twin sons, Adrian Scott De Leon and Aaron Everett De Leon, his brother, Rene De Leon and his father and mother, Brigido and Arcelia De Leon.

Though Brig has left this world, the love he gave will forever live on in the hearts of his family and all who had the honor of knowing him. He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
