Charles Canty was born September 29, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois from the union of Edward and Grace Canty. Charles attended Coleman Elementary and Dusable High School and graduated in June 1957. Charles was the third of seven sons.
Charles accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of the church of The Living God Temple Number 120, and sang in the choir for many years. After marrying and moving to Harvey, Illinois, he joined Academy Methodist Church, and was a member of the choir. Upon retiring and relocating to Houston, Texas Charles attended First Baptist and First Assembly of God until he became ill.
Charles worked for the United States Post Office and Montgomery Ward’s Parts Center.
Charles married Ernestine Canty on December 15, 1973. He was my Honey and I was his Baby. Charles was a kind loving man, everyone loved him. He would go out of his way to help you.
Charles’ beautiful smile and soft voice was a joy to see and hear. Everyone who knew Charles loved him. He was an outgoing and hard working man. His family was his first priority.
Charles made his transition on Monday, August 20, 2012, at 4:30 a.m. He leaves to cherish his loving wife Ernestine Canty, four sons Deddrick, Michael, Robert, and Ricardo, two daughters Deidra and Marsha, three brothers Robert (Jacqueline), Alfred (Sylvia), and Ronald, 27 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, one sister-in-law Sarah (James) Sandford, two brother-laws, Tommy (Velma) Thomas, and David Thomas, and a host of relative and friends.
Visitation will be held, Friday August 24, 2012, 6:00pm-8:00pm at Calvary Hill Funeral Home 21723 Aldine Westfield Road Humble, Texas 77338. Funeral Service to be held on Saturday August 25, 2012 11:00am at Calvary Hill Funeral Home-Chapel. Interment to follow at Calvary Hill Cemetery
