Clairissa Ann “Cookie” Rasco was born on August 27th 1946 in Hammond Lake, Indiana, to Lucille and Burnal Lareau and was the eldest of four children, which included her sister Ella and brothers James (Jim) and John. Though named Clairissa Lareau, she was nicknamed “Cookie”, after a French dancer named “Cookie Lareau”, early on by her father Burnal from his time spent in France after landing at Normandy on D-Day.
The family moved to Texas and it was there that Cookie would meet and fall in love with her future husband Bill Rasco, shortly after his third tour of Vietnam. Both were born on August 27th, 1946 (six hours apart) and were together until his passing in November of 2014. Their life together was always an adventure, even from the start when Bill went AWOL from the Marines in order to marry his one true love.
Cookie is survived by two sons William Dale Rasco Jr. and Dale Stuart Rasco, six grandchildren Brenna Rasco, Jessica Rasco, Chance Rasco, Dallas Rasco, Kylie Rasco and Chloe Rasco as well as two siblings; Ella Lareau and John Lareau.
Two of Cookie’s favorite people in the world were her daughter-in-laws Tina and Jackie Rasco, and she would not hesitate to correct anyone that called them daughter-in-laws; “No, those are my daughters and as much family to me as any blood relative.”
To say Cookie will be missed is an understatement of biblical proportions. Where there was once a voice to speak to two boys “everything will work out”, now there is silence. There will forever be a huge hole in our hearts that will never be filled. We will love you and miss you to the end of time and we will never be able to articulate how much you meant to our family and will continue to mean to us all forever.
We love you, Rest in Peace…
