

He is survived by his wife, Joyce B. Bethea and his children, James C. Bethea (Sandra) and daughter Sharon B. O'Neal. His grandchildren, Lindsay Bethea Bainbridge (Chad), Fallon Nicole Hoover, Ashley Michelle Murphy (Jared), Melissa Horton McCarthy (Stefan), Erin O'Neal. He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. William Roland Bethea and Agnes Polk Bethea, two brothers, Dr. William R. Bethea, Jr. and Dr. Ralph C. Bethea, his grandson John David Bethea and his son-in-law, Norman L. O'Neal. David lived in Jackson, MS for most of his life where he attended Mississippi College and Mississippi State University. He was in the Army as an MP, then joined the MS Highway Patrol after returning from active duty and was promoted to investigator. He left the MS Highway Patrol to open his own business, MS Polygraph. David is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy in Washington DC. He then went to work for the MS Gaming Commission until his retirement where he reached the rank of Deputy Chief. After retirement he and his wife moved to Spring, TX, where he was living at the time of his passing.
David was an avid reader and marksman. He enjoyed boating, fishing, golfing and spending time with his family.
