David was born on January 30, 1952 in Amarillo, TX to Charles Leslie and Lois Jennings Nelson. The eldest son of five children. He graduated from Tascosa High School in 1970. On September 18, 1976, he married Debby Nelson. Together they raised three sons, Cody, Justen and Chad.
As a boy, David had a passion for playing the drums and being a Boy Scout. In 1976, he began his long career in construction with Brown & Root. He always enjoyed working hard and providing for his family. He was a lover of skydiving, music and sports, but that paled in comparison to how he loved his family. He was known for his kind and generous spirit, his infectious laugh, and always encouraging nature.
David was a devoted husband, father, Pops, brother and friend and he will be dearly missed and always remembered.
David was preceded in rest by parent's, Charles and Lois, and his brother Scott. He is survived by his beloved wife Debby, his four children, Brandy, Cody and wife Melissa, Justen and wife Laura, and Chad and his fiancé Marlo Clark, his eight grandchildren and one great grandchild, his sister Leslie, and two brothers, Tony and Shawn, his mother’s two sisters, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 23rd, 2020 at Calvary Hill Funeral Home on Aldine Westfield at 2:00 PM.
