Donald was a congenial soul, affectionately known by his friends as
"Cowboy". Raised in Northeast Houston (Kashmere Gardens), Donald attended
school in HISD. Donald worked for the City of Houston as a laborer for many
years. He fathered one child, the love of his life Shenika Strauss, his "Penny".
He was a remarkably neat man. You could always find him impeccably dressed
for any occasion. Music was a staple in his life; he maintained a meticulously
organized library of music that spanned several decades. He lived a modest life
and remained a loving father, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, in-law and
friend to all who loved him. He was funny, fiery, and loved to have a good
time. He really lived by the mantra, "what's understood doesn't have to been
explained" and often ended a discussion or conversation by exclaiming "that's
what I'm trying to tell you now!"
Donald is survived by his daughter Shenika Strauss; grandson Stephen McCarty;
Sister, Pasteen Parks; brother, Barnett Ross (Levorn); sister, Brenda Roberts; Sister, Deborah Madison (Donald); Life friend Linda McDuffie and a host of nieces and nephews.
