Eloy was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Eloy is survived by his wife, Rosa Serna; his son Eloy Jr, spouse Lisa Serna; his daughters Emilie Saenz, spouse Gabriel Saenz; Erica Garcia, spouse Ruben Garcia; Eillene (Lina) Serna. He had ten grandchildren that adored him all of which included Alexandra, Eloy III, Gabriel Jr, Ruben III, Gilbert, Ruby, Marina Lina, Javi, Elizabeth and Gavin.
Eloy was born in Pharr, Tx on July 21, 1949 to Erasmo Serna & Marina Lina Serna. His siblings include Erasmo Jr., Elem†, Eliezer, Edgar, Egla, Eliud, and Eduardo. He graduated in 1968 from PSJA High School in Pharr, Tx. He was employed by Mcallen Pipe, and later also employed by Custom Security Fence and Iron Works. He married the love of his life Rosa Lozano, on June 18, 1971. They shared a wonderful, and respectful marriage for 50 beautiful years.
Eloy enjoyed spending time with family, playing loteria, gambling, and traveling. He often loved eating Funyuns (even if he had to sneak a bag from his wife) while watching movies, and playing Tetris, Candy Crush on his IPad. A hot chocolate from Shipley’s was a must after every dialysis session. His favorite sports teams included the Dallas Cowboys and the Houston Astros. He always filled the room with joy with his contagious smile. His amazing personality always left an everlasting impression on anyone who crossed his path. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
Please join us for a celebration of life in memory of Eloy Serna Sr. at Calvary Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery at 21723 Aldine Westfield Rd., Humble, TX 77338. Visitation day will be on Monday, June 7, 2021 from 4:00pm-8:00pm. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at 10:00am, and burial at 11:00am.
