George Frederick Conn, 77, of Humble, TX died suddenly in his sleep on Monday, August 30th.
George was born July 30, 1944 the only son of George A. Conn and Veola Provost in Ann Arbor, MI.
George is survived by his loving wife of 12 years, Sherrie Beasley Conn of Humble, TX; sisters Pamela Hyde and Alyce Conn, both of Plantation, FL; daughter Rebecca Conn of Louisville, KY and her children Max and Ava; step-son Eric Angst of Humble, TX; niece Sara Frier and her children Sebastian, Jasmine and Dustin of Davie, FL; and nephew Scott Cook and his son Kyle of Davie, FL. Numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive him.
George graduated from Ann Arbor High School and had a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Michigan. After high school he joined the Navy and served aboard the U.S.S. Holder DD-819. The Holder was known for its outstanding service during the Cuban Missile Crisis in October 1962, when the introduction of offensive missiles into Cuba forced President Kennedy to proclaim a naval quarantine of that island. Holder and other ships took up station so as to intercept and inspect shipping. The destroyer made an inspection of a Russian ship leaving Cuba on 8 November and remained on this duty until 21 November, when she steamed to Norfolk.
George will be remembered for his smile, laughter, generosity, fun loving ways, and of course his electric red hair which is a Conn family trait.
He was a Loving Husband, Brother, Uncle, Father & Grandfather. He will be Loved and Missed and in Our Hearts Forever.
Due to the current spread of Covid-19, no gathering or funeral will be held at this time.
