Curt Gibby was born to George and Grace Gibby in Winthrop, Massachusetts grew up in West Topsham, Vermont and graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1961. After serving aboard the LST Suffolk County in Southeast Asia, he returned to Virginia and completed Underwater Demolition Team - Replacement training Class 29 in 1963, joining UDT 21 and soon after, SEAL Team 2. 1967, while in San Diego between SEAL tours to Vietnam serving on the USS Cavalier APA 37 as a Navigator he met Anne Graham. They married in 1968. Curt was discharged from the Navy 1971 an began his long career in naval architecture and marine engineering.
Curt had a passion for helping and learning, he served on vestries and choirs with the churches everywhere he lived, volunteered as a leader in BSA Troop 401 with both sons, and led the Third Saturday Seminar at Lone Star college for two decades. Half Price Books will miss him as one of their best customers. He is survived by his loving wife Anne, children Graham, Sarah, and James, and brother Grant.
