A visitation for Gladys will be held Saturday, January 29, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Calvary Hill Funeral Home, 21723 Aldine-Westfield Road, Humble, TX. A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 29, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, at the funeral home. A graveside service will take place after the funeral service at Calvary Hill Cemetery.
Gladys was born in Emett , Arkansas on a farm to George and Ophelia Hathcoat. After living in Arkansas for awhile and help raise her four other siblings she decide to move to Texas to pursue a career in nursing. During this time working and getting her education in nursing school, she met the love of her life Fred while working in a café. They married and started a new life together moving to California for awhile. That’s where she started working as a nurse in a skills nursing facility. Mom and dad lived there for six years. She was then called back to Texas to take care of her father who was ill. Mom and dad settled in Houston and started a family here and mom became a stay at home mom to raise her two kids.
Gladys was a great homemaker. She loved her family very much. Gladys was a kind ,compassionate lady who cared about all the kids in the neighborhood. She was very much involved with the Mayfair Park civic center and always had some type of activity going for the kids in the neighborhood. She was Leader of the Blue Bird Girls of America and then Leader of the Campfire Girls of America. Gladys made sure that when her kids had birthday party's that all the neighborhood kids were invited.
Gladys was also a God fearing woman and made God and Jesus Christ her first priority in life. She was always volunteering at churches she attended. She was loving and kind to people who needed help and always giving to those in need. She loved to cook and bake from scratch and made a delicious cakes to give to people. Gladys never forgot people that came into her life and they never forgot about her even after she moved way across town to Spring, Texas.
Gladys survived by her husband Alfredo, daughter Tanya. Survived by her siblings Pat Hathcoat, Darlene Hathcoat, George Hathcoat, and Donald Ray Hathcoat. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
