Gloriastine Smith

Gloriastine Smith of Memphis, Tennessee, passed away February 28, 2024, at the age of 73. Gloria was born to loving parents Frank Galloway and Fannie Anderson in Vicksburg, Mississippi whom preceded her in death.

Gloria was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who is dearly missed by her loved ones. More than anything she loved spending time with her ever-growing family and community of friends.

Gloria was a retired Benefits Management Counselor for the Tennessee Department of Human Services where she worked for twenty years. However, her true passion was sewing. She could sew, knit, or crochet anything put in front of her. Gloria was also an avid gardener who spent countless hours in her own garden, the surrounding parks, and botanical gardens. She loved going on long car rides, dining out and watching Westerns.

Gloria was a longstanding member of Gospel Temple Missionary Baptist Church of Memphis, Tennessee.

Gloria is survived by her son James Allen Smith Jr.; daughter Bridget Marie Smith; grandchildren Chastin Jerome Miles, Christopher James Smith and Chancellor Jarrod Smith, Sr.; great-grandchildren Luna Celeste Esquivel and Chancellor Jarrod Smith, Jr.; brothers Nathaniel Anderson and Clint Edward Anderson and sister Helen M. Anderson-Watson.

Gloria is preceded in death by her father Frank Galloway and mother Fannie Anderson.

A celebration of life for Gloriastine will be held Saturday, March 16, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Calvary Hill Funeral Home, 21723 Aldine Westfield Road, Humble, Texas 77338, followed by a catered reception from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
