

On April 14, 1929, Helen May Eliza was born at home with a midwife to John and Isabella Thomas in Angus, Texas. She was the youngest child. She was preceded in death by her brothers, N.J. and Willis Thomas, and her Sister, Gracie Mae Haggerty.
She was baptized at an early age and attended Campbell Grove Baptist Church in Richland, Texas. When she moved to Houston, She joined Saint Rest Missionary Baptist Church where she spent many years working in the church and putting on plays with very talented youth. People from all over Houston would come to see. To be closer to home, she later moved her membership to Mt Zion M.B.C. under the auspices of Rev. James E. Lightfoot Where she carried on the tradition. She was mentored by Frankie Shelton floral designer and received several awards for her floral designs. She opened her flower shop, Fontaine Place florist and placed flowers in Mt. Zion for all occasions.
After her health was failing, she followed her daughter, granddaughter, and great grandson to The Sunlight Baptist church, though she could not work in the church, when she could attend she enjoyed worshipping.
She had a great sense of humor. In all the ups and downs of life she never lost her sense of humor. And smiled to the end of her life.
On October 3, 2022, Helen May Jackson returned to the loving arms of God. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Elizabeth Doggett exactly 37 years to the day.
Those left to cherish her memory are: Her son, John Fred Watson (linda), daughter, Paulette Edgely, son, Wesley Jackson (Shantilly), Godson, Lee Earl Walker (Barbara), best friend, Ruth Malone, a host of grandchildren, Great grandchildren, and a Great-great grandchild; nieces and countless other family members and friends who were blessed to know her.
A visitation for Helen will be held Saturday, October 8, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Sunlight Baptist Church, 6319 Laura koppe Rd., Houston, TX 77016. A funeral service will occur Saturday, October 8, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, 6319 Laura Koppe Rd., Houston, TX 77016. A committal service will occur Saturday, October 8, 2022 from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM at Calvary Hill Funeral Home, 21723 Aldine-Westfield Road, Humble, TX 77338.
