Jewel Elizabeth Berry transitioned from Life to Glory on Monday, September 16, 2019 at 3 am in Pflugerville, TX. Born on January 19, 1942 to Amanda and Aaron “Pie” Berry Sr., she was the first of five children born in Oakvale, Mississippi. She accepted Christ at an early and was baptized at Palestine Missionary Baptist Church. Jewel, as she was lovingly called, embraced life with a joy and passion. She loved her family and although a car accident changed her mobility, she kept a positive outlook on life.
Preceding her in rest were her parents Amanda and Aaron Berry; her protective brothers, Amos, Aaron and Lafayette Berry; her grandson, Pete Young and niece, Jacqueline “Jackie” Berry. We know as believers to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord so, we will see them all again one day.
Her memory will forever be in the hearts of many especially her children: Walter Farrell Berry Sr (Tina McNair); Amanda Berry Cooper (Greg Cooper); Faith Marion (Michael). Her memory is also cherished by her younger sister, Rev. Ruth Berry Phillips (Rev. Peter Phillips); Sister in Law, Gwendolyn Berry (Lafayette’s widow); and Betty Young, mother of Jewel’s grandsons: Walter Farrell Berry Jr (Falecia); Rodney Young (Lakia); Terrance Berry and Brian Young all of Mississippi. She also leaves a legacy of love in her grand-daughters of Amanda and Greg Cooper, Breonna, Rayven and Ariel Cooper of Houston, TX. Faith and Michael Marion continued Jewel’s legacy with grand-daughters Gem Hope and Christian Marion of Texas. Jewel’s was blessed to have 9 great grandchildren to carry on her legacy.
In the Berry tradition of Life, Love and Legacy we acknowledge her nieces and nephews’ children of Ruth Philips and Lafayette Berry, who also cherish her memory: Rochelle Renee Phillips, Rebekah Berry Walters, Jonathan Lafayette Berry, Florence Bridget Berry, Casandra Denise Berry and Miles Thomas.
Jewel has many cousins, extended family and friends who celebrate her Life, Love and Legacy. We would also like to Sincerely Thank the team members of the Pflugerville Health Care/Nursing Home for taking care of Jewel over the years, the promises in Ephesians 6:8 are yours “Whatsoever good any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord whether he be bond of free”
We Love You Jewel Berry! Until We See You Again!
