Jorge Adalberto Cruz

Jorge Adalberto Cruz was born on April 22, 1949, in the city of Tegucigalpa, in the Manchen neighborhood of Honduras. His parents were José Tomas Cruz Torre and his mother, María Virginia Cerrato Ramos. Jorge Cruz had a total of 14 siblings, including Blanca Aviles, Adilia Turcio, María del Rosario Rovelo, José Reymundo Torres, Juana Virginia Chávez, and Ramona Isabel Cruz.

Jorge Cruz grew up with his parents and siblings, surrounded by love and affection. Even amid the difficulties of daily life, they were happy to share their anecdotes and experiences. Jorge began working at the age of eight and also attended school, excelling in his classes. He enjoyed helping his father with work and household chores. One of his favorite sports was soccer; he began playing at the age of 11, demonstrating his skill in the sport.

One of the most peculiar anecdotes from his childhood was when he would run away with his brothers and friends to the creek to pick wild blackberries. Amidst the danger of reptiles, he, his brothers, and friends had a lot of fun. When they ran away, they got into trouble with their parents, and they were always punished. Someone had told them that if they plucked out their eyelashes, they wouldn't get punished. So, he and his brothers would pluck out their eyelashes to avoid punishment, but they lost their eyelashes and still received the punishment. He loved spending time with his sisters and friends playing baseball on a field full of sawdust using a sock filled with sawdust as a ball. Amidst the financial constraints and the hard work Jorge did, he always looked on the bright side of life.

He worked in different jobs, such as making bricks, tiles, at a sawmill, carrying packages and groceries, and many other things to support his family. At the age of 26, in 1976, he had the opportunity to serve in the Honduran Air Force as an aircraft mechanic. During those years, Jorge learned a lot about aviation and grew in many aspects. He also played softball. In 1977, Jorge Cruz met his beloved wife, Juana Cruz, and in 1979, he had his first son, Jorge Adalberto Cruz Jr. During this time, he played soccer for the neighborhood teams Club Deportivo Divanna and Club Deportivo Once Halcones, where he was much loved and remembered by his teammates for his talent. In 1984, his daughter Jennefer Cruz de Contreras was born. In 1990, he and his wife had the opportunity to come to the United States. His children remained in Honduras with their families. He worked hard with his wife to bring their children to this country. Also, that same year, Jorge accepted Jesus at the Church of the Nazarene and there he truly came to know our Lord Jesus Christ. Since meeting Jesus, Jorge has dedicated his life to worshipping and exalting the name of God with his favorite songs by Oscar Medina.

In 1996, Jorge Cruz and his wife brought their children to the United States. With much effort and support, he helped them move forward and achieve their goals. During his lifetime, he always said, "My greatest pride is seeing my children achieve their goals." Likewise, in 2015, his children graduated from college with honors, and Jorge

was very happy and proud of them. He was also able to fulfill his dream of seeing his children married and meeting his grandchildren, who are still alive: Daniel Cruz, Noemi Cruz, Mateo Contreras, Abigail Contreras, and Isabella Contreras. In 2016, he moved to Texas with his beloved wife and lived a joyful life with his daughter Jennefer Contreras, his son-in-law Oscar Contreras, and his grandchildren Mateo, Abigail, and Isabella. Even amid distance, he always shared anecdotes and beautiful memories with his son Jorge in New Jersey, alongside his family. Jorge worshipped the Lord at Oasis de Salvación Church in Spring, TX. At Oasis, Jorge served as an usher and as a worshiper. He is always remembered by his family, siblings, and neighbors as a cheerful and kind person. Some called him "the teacher," others called him Oscar Medica, "the cheerful neighbor," a friend, "Mr. Joy," and much more. He stood out for being a respectful, kind, cheerful man with an infectious smile. The last words he always said to his children and grandchildren were, "Keep moving forward in Christ." “Don't stop seeking God.” Jorge Cruz was a hardworking man who always longed to see his children study and succeed. He gave his grandchildren that same advice when he called them to say goodbye.

He was always surrounded by much love from his family here in Texas and was always grateful for their displays of love and affection. In his final days, Jorge Cruz was surrounded by praise, worship, and fellowship. Brothers and sisters never ceased to show their love and affection as they worshipped God alongside Jorge, even in the midst of the pain he felt. The visits and displays of affection from each brother and sister in Christ were a great blessing to his life. He always said, "How beautiful it is to see the love of my brothers and sisters overflowing in my life." When he received visitors, he always expressed, "I love you all." He always advised his children to take care of his wife, Paula. His wife took care of him with so much love and kindness until his last breath. In his final days, he said, "I'm ready to go home." Finally, on October 11, 2025, alongside his children and wife, Jorge Cruz crowned his career in Christ. The great love he showed for others will never be forgotten. Jorge remained faithful to Christ until the day he was called into His presence.

Jorge Cruz tuvo en total 14 hermanos, cuyos hermanos en vida son Blanca Aviles, Adilia Turcio, María del Rosario Rovelo, José Reymundo Torres, Juana Virginia Chávez y Ramona Isabel Cruz.

Jorge Cruz creció al lado de sus padres y sus hermanos, rodeado de amor y cariño. Aun en medio de las dificultades del diario vivir, ellos eran felices al compartir sus anécdotas y experiencias vividas. Jorge comenzó a trabajar desde los ocho años, y así mismo asistía a la escuela, sobresaliendo en sus clases. A él le gustaba ayudar a su padre en el trabajo y en los quehaceres de la casa. Uno de sus deportes favoritos fue el futbol; fue el que comenzó a jugar a la edad de 11 años, demostrando habilidades en el deporte.

Una de las anécdotas más peculiares de su niñez fue cuando se escapaba con sus hermanos y compañeros a la quebrada para recoger moras silvestres. En medio del peligro de los reptiles, él junto a sus hermanos y amigos se divertían mucho. Cuando se escapaban, se metían en problemas con sus padres, y siempre los castigaban. Alguien les había dicho que al arrancarse las pestañas ya no los iban a castigar. Por ende, él y sus hermanos se arrancaban las pestañas para librarse del castigo, pero se quedaban sin pestañas y aun recibían el castigo. A él le gustaba mucho compartir con sus hermanas y amigos jugando béisbol en un campo lleno de aserrín con una pelota de calcetín llena de aserrín. En medio de los límites económicos y del arduo trabajo que Jorge hacía, él siempre le veía el lado bueno a la vida.

Él trabajó en diferentes lugares, como haciendo ladrillos, tejas, aserradero, jalando bultos y muchas otras cosas más para poder apoyar a su familia.

A la edad de 26 años, en 1976, él tuvo la oportunidad de servir en la fuerza Aérea de Honduras como mecánico de aviación. En esos años, Jorge aprendió mucho de de la aviación y creció muchos aspectos. En esa época, también jugaba softball. En el año 1977, Jorge Cruz conoció a su amada esposa Juana Cruz y en 1979 tuvo a su primer hijo, Jorge Adalberto Cruz Jr. En este tiempo él jugaba futbol en el equipo del barrio llamado Club Deportivo Divanna y Club Deportivo Once Halcones en el cual fue muy querido y recordado por sus compañeros, ya que tenía mucho talento en el futbol. En 1984 nació su hija Jennefer Cruz de Contreras, su negrita linda como a el le gustaba llamarla.

En 1990, él tuvo la oportunidad de venir a Estados Unidos junto con su esposa. Sus hijos se quedaron en Honduras con sus familias. El trabajó arduamente con su esposa para poder traer a sus hijos a este país. También en este mismo año, Jorge aceptó a Jesús en la Iglesia del Nazareno y ahi conoció verdaderamente a nuestro Señor

Jesucristo. Desde que el conoció a Jesús, Jorge siempre dedicó su vida para adorar y exaltar el nombre de Dios con sus alabanzas favoritas de Oscar Medina.

En 1996, Jorge Cruz y su esposa trajeron a sus hijos a Estados Unidos. Y con mucho esfuerzo y apoyo, él les ayudo para que pudieran salir Adelante y lograr sus metas. En vida él siempre decía, “Mi mayor orgullo es ver a mis hijos realizados”. Así mismo en el 2015 sus hijos se graduaron de la Universidad con honores y Jorge estaba muy Feliz y orgulloso de Ellos. También pudo ver realizado el sueño de ver a sus hijos casados y conocer a sus nietos que en vida quedan Daniel Cruz, Noemi Cruz, Mateo Contreras, Abigail Contreras e Isabella Contreras. En el año 2016 se mudó al estado de Texas junto a su amada esposa y vivió una vida alegre con su hija Jennefer Contreras, su yerno Oscar contreras y sus nietos Mateo, Abigail e Isabella. Aun en medio de la distancia siempre compartía anécdotas y bellos recuerdos con su hijo Jorge en New Jersey al lado de su familia. Jorge se congregaba en la iglesia Evangélica Oasis de Salvación en Spring TX. En Oasis, Jorge sirvió en el área de ujier y como adorador. Siempre es recordado por sus familias, hermanos y vecinos como una persona alegre y amable. Algunos le llamaban, “el maestro”, otros Oscar Medica, vecino alegre, amigo, señor alegría y mucho más. Se destacó por ser un varón respetuoso, consejero, amable, alegre y una sonrisa contagiosa. Las ultimas palabras que el siempre le decía a sus hijos y nietos es, “Sigan adelante en Cristo. “Firmes.” “No dejen de buscar a Dios”. Jorge Cruz fue un hombre trabajador que siempre anhelo ver a sus hijos estudiar y salir adelante. Ese mismo consejo les dejo a sus nietos cuando los llamo para despedirse.

Él siempre fue rodeado de mucho amor por su familia aquí en Texas y siempre vivió agradecido por sus muestras de amor y cariño. Jorge Cruz en sus últimos días fue rodeado de alabanza, adoración, compañerismo, hermanos que no cesaban de demostrar su amor y cariño al adorar a Dios junto a Jorge aun en medio del dolor que el sentía. Las visitas y muestras de cariño de cada hermano fueron de mucha bendición para su vida. El siempre decía, “que bello es ver el amor de los hermanos desbordado en mi vida.” Cuando recibía visitas siempre expreso, “los quiero mucho”. Siempre aconsejo a sus hijos de cuidar a su viejita como el le decía a su esposa Paula. Su amada esposa cuido de el con mucho cariño y amabilidad hasta su último suspiro. En sus últimos días él dijo, “estoy listo para irme a casa.” Finalmente, en octubre 11 del 2025, al lado de sus hijos y esposa, Jorge Cruz coronó su carrera. Nunca será olvidado el gran amor que el demostró por los demás. Jorge permaneció fiel a Cristo hasta el día que fue llamado a su presencia.

A visitation will be held on October 24, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Iglesia Evangelica Oasis de Salvacion, located at 22800 Birnam Wood Blvd, Spring, TX 77373. A service will follow at the same location from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm. The evening will conclude with a visit/condolences session from 9:00 pm to 11:00 pm.

On October 25, 2025, a family visitation will take place from 8:00 am to 9:00 am, followed by another visitation from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at Iglesia Evangelica Oasis de Salvacion. The committal service is scheduled for 11:00 am to 11:30 am at Calvary Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, 21723 Aldine-Westfield Road, Humble, TX 77338.
