Born December 18th, 1936, in Highbank, Texas, Leonard was the son of first generation Italian immigrants John Frank Loria and Margaret Benireto. He grew up in the Houston Heights. A graduate of Raegan High School, he served in the U.S. Air Force and Air National Guard. Following his graduation from industrial tech school as a licensed cosmetologist, Leonard became a well-known hairdresser, established Leonard Coiffures in Spring, Texas, and was inducted into the Houston Coiffure Guild. He also owned and operated an Armstrong McCall franchise in Kerrville, Texas, for several years and was a member of the city's Chamber of Commerce. In his last 16 years, he worked for Sears, leaving him more time for his wife, children, and grandchildren. Leonard was an accomplished man, but his greatest joy was his family.
Leonard is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Doris Lee Loria; their three children, Lichelle Renee Nanninga, Leonard John Loria II, and Layla Loria Hutsen and her husband, Cliff; his grandchildren, David McKinley Bayler, Amanda Bayler, Shelby LeeAnn Nanninga, and Blaine Allen Hutsen; his great-grandchildren, McKinley Renee Bayler and Nathaniel Douglas Bayler; and his sister, Katherine Ann Plainos.
