Lillie Jones Wiley

Lillie was one of twelve children born to the late Rufus Mayfield Sr. and Arlene Mayfield.

In 1927, the family moved to Lake Charles, Louisiana were Lillie attended Second Ward School. She was a member of Reeves C.M. E. Church, Lake Charles La. While in California she joined Love and Unity Christian Fellowship Church, Compton, Ca.

She held a service career as a professional Silk Finisher in the dry cleaning businesses in Lake Charles and Houston from 1953- 1964. Moving her family to Compton, California in 1965, she continued her profession diligently in the Los Angeles, Hollywood and Woodland Hills communities until her retirement in 1993.

Lillie loved listening to gospel and jazz music, reading her Bible, attending church and singing in the church choir. She was blessed with three children, Adrianne, Dianne and Wayne. She encouraged them to love God, to obey, to love and respect others and to be courageous in life.

The same values she gave to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Lillie’s service to the Lord was evident in her role as a mother & caregiver for many of her siblings and other family members, She never lost the joy of her favorite foods, fun, and family, always there to give encouragement for life issues to anyone who needed it. Always willing to go shopping, dine out, or cook you a Big meal.

Lillie touched the lives of many with her smile and generosity, hard work, maintaining her Christian faith and sense of humor all the way to the end.

Lillie is preceded in death, by her seven sisters, Miss Hellen Jane Mayfield, Mrs. Ruth Schexnider, Mrs. Janice M. Sanford, Mrs. Effie M. Nichols,

Mrs. Janet M. Teat, Mrs. Christine McClinton, Reverend Earnestine F. Mattox, four brothers, Spencer B. Mayfield, Charles Mayfield, Arthur W. Mayfield, Rufus Mayfield Jr.

Lillie will forever be remembered by her devoted children Adrianne M. Sanchez, Dianne L. Vice and Wayne K. Jones, treasured grandchildren, Antares Vice- Clemente, Raina Vice Brown, Trenae Vice, Gloria Vice, and Christian Jones, and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, caring In-laws Albert Jose Sanchez, Kimberley Moffette, Leroy Sanford, Ethel Mayfield, Freeman Mattox, Francis Sanchez, Julie Mayfield and long time friends.

Friends and Family are invited to attend reception following Interment.
