Linda Jane (Forrest) Watt was born in San Antonio, Texas on January 5, 1945, to Paul Harper Forrest and Dorothy Christine (Anderson) Forrest. She passed away on February 6, 2025 in Spring, Texas. She was the third of eight children. Linda married James Thomas Watt in Lubbock, Texas on June 5, 1967, and they were married for fifty-seven years. She is a graduate of the University of Houston, University Park (BS in Education), and Sam Houston State University (MA in Counseling). Linda taught elementary education for two years at Long Point Baptist School in Houston, Texas, and for four years in the Aldine ISD public school system. Linda and Tom lived in Texas, Virginia, Hawaii, Illinois, and Arizona, but predominantly in Texas. Her hobbies included the interior decorating of her home, exercising, traveling (both domestically and internationally), volunteering as a women's counselor in Founders Baptist Church, and engaging in Bible study.
Linda was a daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband and two children---Lisa LeeAnn Watt of Spring, Texas and Richard Andrew Watt of Kitakyushu City, Japan. Richard is married to Hiroko (Sako) Watt, and they have five children-Sean, Ryan, Allan, Katy, and Liam. Linda is also survived by five siblings---Charles Forrest of Plain City, Ohio, Paul Forrest of Custer, Michigan, Tom Forrest of Pocatello, Idaho, Carol Forrest of Lubbock, Texas, and Dottie (Forrest) Wise of The Woodlands, Texas. There are surviving nephews, nieces, cousins, and in-laws.
Linda was a faithful, growing, and Biblically-informed Christian. She loved the Lord Jesus Christ, God's Word (the Bible), the church and all of her fellow children of God/believers. Tom once used the letters of Linda's name in an acrostic to aptly describe her: L-Lovely; I-Inspiring; N-Needed; D-Delightful; and A-Absorbing. Linda in turn wrote Tom these words: "I do love you very dearly, and I will pray every step of the way for God's will to be done, because that will mean in the end great happiness for both you and me." After making what was probably a peer-driven profession of faith in Christ early in her life, Linda became a true, born-again Christian at the age of thirty-three. At that time, she realized, and was able to personally apply to herself, the truth of Romans 8:16, "The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children."
Tom wishes to express his fervent appreciation for and gratitude to Linda's primary caregivers for the past seven months-Virginia of Kenya, Mary of Kenya, and Amina of Tanzania, all employees of Unlimited Care Cottages. He also wants to thank the employees of Devotion Hospice who so lovingly and capably ministered to Linda in a variety of ways.
A visitation for Linda will be held Wednesday, February 12, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Calvary Hill Funeral Home and Cem, 21723 Aldine-Westfield Road, Humble, TX 77338.
