Mammie Lorraine Clark departed this life on May 19, 2024. She was born May 6, 1940, in Jackson, MS, the daughter of the late Exell McAlister and Willie Faye Wellmaker. She was the youngest of two children. Lorraine was a caring mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to all that knew her. She spent her childhood years in Galena, Il were she was known to most as “Rat” because she liked to tear paper into little pieces. She would later retreat to Miami; Fl. where she spent her adult years and was known to everyone as “Lo”. This is where she gained a forever friend since the age of 16, Mrs. Warnell Peavy. She later moved to Chicago, IL. to be close to her mother; with her family of three girls Dawn, Faye, and Catherine. It was there she worked 20+ years and retired from Metropolitan Structures. She later decided that Chicago wasn’t a place for a retiree and decided to make Houston, TX her tropical paradise.
During her time in Houston, she re-dedicated her life to GOD, and joined Brookhollow Baptist Church. It was there she devoted and dedicated herself to the Food and Clothing Ministry. Lorraine had a passion for helping others. She was a proud, strong, loving, and generous woman who was devoted to her family. She was preceded in death by her parents Exell McAlister and Willie Faye Wellmaker, and a brother George Lee Myles.
She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Dawn Angelia Cousins, Faye Michelle Brown, Catherine Georgina Watson of Houston, TX: three grandchildren, Brittini Sade Pryor, Christin Lamar Brown, Courtney Breanna Watson. Extended-family grandchildren, Chenese and Chendre Brown. And a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and the dearest of friends.
