Lucas Moreno was born October 17, 1929 in San Benito, Texas. He married Mercedes Gonzales in 1948 and were the parents of 8 children - Lee Moreno, Gloria Barley, Alicia Perales, Ophelia Shiver, Sylvia Hermann, Irma Valdez, Richard Moreno, had one deceased son, David Moreno, 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Moreno was a truck driver and supported his family working hard every day driving his eighteen wheeler all over this area. He was a motorcycle enthusiast and rode motorcycles for several years. He owned a Harley-Davidson in his lifetime and maintained interest in Harley's even unto his death.
Mr. Moreno loved to read and study the Bible and could quote many scriptures by memory. He also loved to testify about the saving grace of Jesus Christ. He was ready and quick to ask questions if he felt that the Bible was being misquoted. One of his great attributes was to witness one-on-one. He has testified about the salvation of the Lord to many souls over the years. He attended several missionary trips overseas and was a pillar of the church
He retired from driving for a living at age 62, but kept himself busy. He was always helping someone remodel or fix something. He was good with tools and enjoyed wood-working. After the death of his dear wife, Mercedes, he started fellowshipping with other seniors at a nearby grocery store cafe. Many of them loved and respected him and this is where he was enjoying some fellowship when he took sick last Monday, November 1, passing away in the Northwest Memorial Hospital. He will be greatly missed, and we shall forever carry many good memories of him in our hearts. He is now united again with his beautiful wife of 50 years, Mercedes
