Manuel Gomez Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on Sunday, April 28th, at the age of 71, surrounded by his loving wife and family. Born on January 28, 1953, in Laredo, Texas, Manuel's journey through life was marked by kindness, creativity, and a deep love for his family.
Manuel's early years were spent in Laredo, Texas. He later lived in Gary, Indiana, before eventually settling in Houston, Texas. Throughout his journey, Manuel cultivated a passion for woodworking and developed a keen interest in aquariums. Well-known for his craftsmanship, love for woodworking and aquariums remained constants in his life, serving as sources of joy and fulfillment.
Among his many passions, Manuel's true passion was his collection of aquariums. He found solace and joy in this hobby especially with a notable 200-gallon tank once serving as the centerpiece of his home. Manuel's dedication to his craft mirrored his commitment to his family, always providing love, care, and attention.
An avid movie enthusiast, Manuel cherished moments spent watching classics like "Honeymooners," "Twilight Zone," "Three Stooges," "Star Trek," and "Ancient Aliens." His love for cinema extended beyond mere entertainment; it was a shared experience that brought joy and laughter to those around him.
Manuel's greatest joy came from spending time with his family, hosting outdoor cookouts, and creating lasting memories. He was a devoted husband to his loving wife of 25 years, Sonya Gomez, whom he cherished as his soulmate and true love. Manuel's thoughtful gestures and sweet surprises were a testament to his affectionate nature and unwavering devotion.
Manuel is survived by his wife, Sonya Gomez, his children Jennifer Gomez,Manuel Gomez III (His wife, Iris Gomez), Martin Flores, and Christopher "Chris" Flores (His wife, Yvette Flores), his grandchildren Leilani Gomez, Noah Flores, Isaiah Flores, Joel Flores, and Luke Gomez, his siblings Delia Torres (Her husband David Torres), Elida Magana (Her husband Javier Magana) Irma Camacho (her husband Jesus Camacho), Louis "Louie" Gomez (His wife Terri Gomez), and Ricardo "Rick" Gomez (His wife Gloria Gomez), and a host of extended family and friends who will forever cherish his memory. He is preceded in death by his parents, Maria Estela Gomez and Manuel Gomez Sr., and his loving brother, Juan Gomez.
His Pallbearers include Jennifer Gomez, Manuel Gomez III, Chris Flores, Louie Gomez, Rick Gomez, and David Torres.
Manuel's common phrases "God always first in our lives" and "We're Blessed" were a reflection of his unwavering faith and gratitude for life's blessings.
Though Manuel's physical presence may be gone, his spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. His legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will continue to inspire and uplift us for generations to come.

A funeral service will occur Wednesday, May 8, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 21723 Aldine-Westfield Road, Humble, TX 77338.
