Mercedes Gomez, 74, of Spring, Texas, passed away on August 13, 2026. Born on July 3, 1952, in Duran, Ecuador, Mercedes was the daughter of Aaron Anzules and Luzmila Anzules Garcias. From the beginning, she was deeply beloved and dearly cherished, a steady presence whose life would go on to touch many hearts and homes.
Mercedes married Ramon Gomez on February 5, 1977. Their marriage became a foundation of love and family, and though she is now reunited in rest with Ramon—who preceded her in death—her devotion to those she held close remains evident in the family she leaves behind.
She is survived by her sons Raymond Gomez & Yadisa Gomez, Anzulez Gomez & Ana Gomez, Raylee Gomez & Jessica Gomez, John Gomez & Marielena Gomez, Michael Gomez, and Jesus Gomez; her sisters Loyda, Ruthy, Rita, and Sabina; her brothers Kenneth and Nacho; 12 grandchildren Yariany, Danalynn, AJ, Ryan, Ethan, Jaden, Matthew, Jaynoe, Rubilee, Jeremy, Jeremiah, and Zachery; and 1 great grandchild, Ezran.
A woman of faith for more than half a century, Mercedes served the Lord for 58 years. She was a member of The Assembly of God and lived her calling as a minister (pastor), pouring herself into praising the Lord and teaching the word of God to others. In ways both quiet and profound, she made people feel seen, held, and valued—cherished not only by her family, but by those who learned from her, worshiped alongside her, and were strengthened by her steadfast example.
Mercedes found joy in traveling, cooking, eating, and reading, and she especially loved singing and studying the Bible. Her days were shaped by simple, meaningful pleasures and a devotion that guided how she loved, how she spoke, and how she cared for others.
Though her absence is deeply felt, Mercedes Gomez will be remembered with enduring love—as one beloved, cherished, and faithfully devoted, whose life continues to speak through the family she nurtured and the faith she shared.
