Nina Beatrice Halpin, born August 17, 1940, went home to her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 12, 2014, after a brief illness. Nina was born in Alexandria, Alabama, but grew up in Beaumont, TX. She met the love of her life Stephen (S.J.) Halpin while in junior high school. They married, and had four beautiful daughters during their 54 years of marriage. Nina was a dedicated wife, loving mother, attentive listener, trusted adviser, unwavering friend and the centerpiece of her family. For those who knew Nina, she was a genuinely kind person with a warm and infectious smile that could brighten anyone's day. Her grandchildren will long remember her nonjudgmental conversations and her sweet encouraging words. Nina leaves a void in her family's heart that no one here on earth can fill. Nina is preceded in death by her parents, George Robert Edwards and Elma Owen Edwards; sister, Katherine (Kitty) Williams. She is survived by her loving husband, Stephen (S.J.) Halpin; her brother Bobby Edwards and his wife Patti; daughters, Lynn Snook and husband Gordon, Cheryl Pinson and husband Keith, Tricia Morton and husband George, and Stephanie Halpin; grandchildren, Matthew Howell, Joshua Howell, Jared Pinson, Kyle Pinson, Abbie Pinson, Campbell Johnson, Stephen Johnson; great grandchildren, Brendan Howell and Matthew Howell. There will be a memorial service celebrating Nina's life at an undetermined future date. Details of the memorial service will be posted on the Calvary Hill Funeral Home website, www.calvaryhillfuneralhome.com, hopefully, within the next few weeks. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Texas Children's Hospital at www.texaschildrens.org.
