On Monday, November 22, 2021 Nora Alvina Esselstrom, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed peacefully in her sleep at the age of 94.

A Celebration of Life Reception will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at Calvary Hill Funeral Home, 21723 Aldine Westfield Rd, Humble TX.

Nora was born on October 15, 1927 in Parkville MN where she had four children; Lois Wieland, Dorothy Wieland, Kevin Carron and Jeffery Carron. They settled in Tower, MN where Nora developed her passion for cooking, gardening and crafting. She was known for her famous Pasties (Northern dish) and made the best bran muffins in the world!

In her younger years Nora owned and operated a dry cleaning business with her husband Harold Carron. After her children were older she started her own caretaking/housekeeping business which she continued well into her 70’s. She had many influential clients, this business gave her the opportunity to travel and see new places.

Nora was preceded in death by her parents Jules and Dorothy (Hammam) Girard, her husbands; Bob Wieland, Harold Carron and Matthew Esselstrom, her daughter Lois and her son Kevin.

She is survived by her son Jeffery Carron and his wife Nancy and daughter Dorothy Wieland, grandchildren; Angilene, Kimberly and Jacie. Great grandchildren; Dezirae, Kacie, Ryette and Elise also survive her.

Nora created a large family who loved her dearly and who will sorely miss their matriarch.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.CalvaryHillFuneralHome.com for the Esselstrom family.

Nora was a friend of my sister, Stacy and brother-in-law, Bruce when she lived on lake vermilion in Tower, Mn. That’s how I got to know her. She’d come over for a few drinks and visit. She was full of laughter and great wisdom. I’d see her in her boat going to clean or out in her garden. Her age never stopped her from doing what she loved. She will be missed.

I wanted to say a few words in honor of Nora. In celebrating, her life I got to know her after Jeff moved her from Minnesota to Texas where she came to live with Jeff and my sister Nancy. Our good old Texas sun warmed her bones and she enjoyed being outside and basking in the sun (and the heat did not seem to bother her)
She was a woman of grace and courage, with a stubborn streak that showed up when she set her mind to something.
She lived a good life- and her attention to details was inspiring-the arts and crafts she made were very detailed – it was the little things that added the finishing touch to every experience. Whether she was setting out the kitchen table or clinking the glass while drinking her beverage or her wine, she always prioritized food and drinks.
I will miss her very much - go rest high on that mountain Nora, your work on earth here is done.
