Norma Dee Cook, 90, of Houston Texas was called home to see Jesus on Wednesday June 28, 2017. Norma was born on October 16, 1926 in Teague Texas to Loyd and Annie Luper. She had seven brothers and sisters. She met and married Irven A. Cook in Hamilton Montana and later moved to Texas where she lovingly raised her two children. Norma was raised Baptist and belonged to Aldine Baptist Church. She was very active in her family’s life. She was a member of the PTA and often followed the band to football games and was a “mother” to a number of her children’s friends. Norma enjoyed square dancing and often helped her husband in the Aldine Optimist Club along with many of her other activities she loved to do ceramics and garage sales.
Norma was known as Norma, Nanny, Grandma or Aunt Dee, as she was called by many, even those she just met, she was often described as a spit-fire or live-wire of a woman. She loved to talk to people and never met a stranger. She loved children and would often give them toys or stuffed animals from her prized and much loved teddy bear collection. She loved to visit with neighbors and friends. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and the cornerstone of her family.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents Loyd and Annie Luper, her husband Irvin A Cook, both brothers: Floyd Luper and Loyd “Buddy” Luper and two of her sisters: Lydell Buxton and Ila Mae Edwards.
Left to cherish her memory is her son Loyd Cook of Houston and her daughter and son-in-law Anita Kay Pollan and Joe Wayne Pollan of Daingerfield TX. Three sisters: Avis Raney and husband Charles Raney of Deer Park, Bertha McBride of Teague, Cathy Hardin of Teague. Three grandchildren: Jodie Pollan and husband Justin Pollan, Tommy Byrd and wife Christine Byrd, Helen (Billy Scott) Cook. 6 great-grandchildren: Tyler Lynn Mostella, Kadee Ann Mostella, Karter Klay Pollan, Tinley Addison Byrd, Rowan Booth Byrd and Teagan Josephine Byrd and many other nieces and nephews and family friends.
