

Raymond M Zulaica Jr. "Ray", age 71, went to be with the Lord on January 17, 2014. He was born in Charlotte, TX on February 5, 1942. A strong work ethic was instilled in Ray as he grew up working in the fields before and after school. Upon his high school graduation, Ray ventured off to San Antonio, TX to begin his career in sales. He met the love of his life, Rachel Pacheco in November 1963: they married on May 30, 1964.
In 1965, Ray entered the US Army to serve his country and fight in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1967 with military honors and various service medals.
In 1968, his first daughter Roxanne Zulaica McFarland was born, then in 1972 Rayanne Zulaica Johnson completed their family.
In 1976, Ray was promoted to Branch manger for WEGO and relocated to Houston. It was here in Houston where Ray and his family found a church home where the Lord led him to join the missionary field of Mexico for two years. After his service to the field, he returned to Houston to pastor from 1984 to 1991.
Ray returned to the workforce in 1991 to the oil and gas industry, finishing his career with Gulf Coast Oil Field Products, where he mentored and influenced many.
Ray is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Rachel P. Zulaica. His two daughters, Roxanne Zulaica McFarland (Jason) and Rayanne Zulaica Johnson (Galen) and granddaughter, Kylee McFarland. Two brothers, Richard and Ruben Zulaica. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will begin at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, January 21st in the Chapel of Calvary Hill Funeral Home. A short Memorial Service will take place at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 22nd, also in the funeral home chapel, to be followed by interment at Houston National Cemetery at 1:15 PM.
