Robert was a proud veteran of the United States Army and delighted in sharing old services stories and tales of his young life in Schooliville, Arkansas to anyone who would listen. He served in the National Guard in Arkansas, in the Airborne Unit of the 10th Division, and as a 1st Lieutenant in the Army. Following this, he worked as a Texas State Trooper from the late 50's until 1969, and Security for the Department of Defense with the United States Government from the late 70's until 2004, at which point he made his home in Humble, Texas.
Robert was a people person, and strove to make sure no one ever left a stranger. During his spare time, he loved fishing and eating a good catfish dinner.
Robert is survived by his wife Lidia McCullough; children Robert N. McCullough (Grand Prairie, Texas), Cheryl Longaker (Spring, Texas), John McCullough (Ft. Worth, Texas), Janette Ibarra (El Paso, Texas), Elizabeth McCullough (El Paso, Texas), Phillip McCullough (Mansfield, Texas); 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brother Charles Ray McCullough (Palm Springs, California); and numerous nieces and nephews.
