Roy Benton Yeager, 80, of Spring, TX, entered into final rest on Friday, July 24, 2020. He was born in Atlanta, GA, on August 29, 1939, the youngest child of Rader Lee Yeager and Ludie Belle Jackson Yeager. His siblings included Rosalie Yeager Bartlett, Dorothy Yeager Blake, John Wilton Yeager, all of whom preceded him in death.
After graduating in 1957 from Fulton High School (Atlanta, GA), Roy met the love of his life, Bobbi Jean Mayhall, and they were married on August 18, 1961. Their union produced three amazing children, Mark, Lee & Lisa. The Yeager household was a very sports oriented one and Roy spent all of his spare time at the football, baseball and softball fields either coaching or watching his children participate in the sports that they loved. Roy was always so very proud of the accomplishments of each of his children, but nothing compared to the love he felt for his grandchildren. They really were the apple of his eye and he always beamed with pride whenever he saw them or whenever you mentioned their name. Roy enjoyed a wonderful career with Gulf Oil Corporation and spent his retirement years doing the things that he loved. He loved doting on his grandkids, enjoying a cup of coffee or a cold one with his friends & neighbors, hosting “friendly” poker parties and two-stepping to his favorite country songs. Roy was a simple man, always very calm, cool & collected. He never met a stranger and always had a smile on his face. He welcomed everyone with the best hugs and he gave his grandkids the best back scratches. He was a good man and those he left behind are going to miss him immensely.
Roy is survived by his wife of 58 years, Bobbi; son Mark Haley Yeager and wife Nanette; son Lee Alec Yeager and wife Katie; daughter Lisa Elizabeth Yeager Henneke and husband Glen; grandchildren Corey, Haley, Sam, Caroline, Katelyn, and Emma.
