Ruby Maud Davy Garvey, age 88, of Tomball, Texas, died peacefully at Kindred Hospital in Tomball on Saturday, August 25, 2018 following a courageous health battle. Ruby was born in Bocas del Toro, Republic of Panamá on August 1, 1930. She was the loving daughter of Celeste Maud Daly and Henry Davy.
Ruby met and married, Clifford Duncan Garvey in 1958, who preceded her in death on May 15, 2016. To this union, Clifford D. Garvey Jr., Flavia Q. Garvey, and Margot B. Garvey, were born.
Until illness prevented her from regularly attending church, Ruby was a faithful member of the Spring Creek Seventh Day Adventist Church. Ruby was devoted to her family, loved to cook, sew, and bake. For those who knew her well, no one could cook like her. She also had a fascination with international travel and visited many countries in Europe, the Middle East, South Pacific, Central America and the provinces of Canada.
After immigrating to the United States in 1965 to find a better future for her family, Ruby was employed as a caregiver in New York. Later, she began a long career on the New York Stock Exchange with Citibank. She retired in 1991 after 21 years of service. In 1992, Ruby and her husband Clifford relocated to Humble, Texas and then to Tomball, Texas in 2005.
Ruby leaves to celebrate her life, a son Clifford D. Garvey Jr. and wife Xiomara Garvey of Del City Oklahoma, daughters Margot B. Garvey Preyer of Houston, Texas, Beverly Patricia Barber of San Antonio, Texas, Eloisa Brown of Columbus, Georgia, brother Joseph Davy as well as many grand and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and countless friends.
Ruby was preceded in rest by her parents Henry Davy and Celeste Davy and siblings to that union, brothers Sidney Davy, Walton Davy, Ralph Davy, Ivan Davy, and sisters Icey Davy, Ivey Davy, Hazel Henry, and Edna Adams, and her daughter Flavia Q. Garvey Elmore.
