

Ruby Dawn Johnston Green, age 86, a resident of Spring, Texas, passed away at home in the early hours of Friday, November 20, 2015, after a lengthy illness. A native of Choudrant, La., she graduated from Choudrant High School and attended Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, La.. Dawn moved to the Spring area with her husband, the late Reverend Robert T. Green, Jr., in 1996. She and Rob previously resided in Pineville, La.; Luling, La.; and West Monroe, La.
Over the years, Dawn worked as an administrative assistant for many notable organizations, including Conoco Oil Company in Fort Worth, Texas; Cleco, in Pineville, La.; and Otto Candies, LLC, in Des Allemands, La. She was an active member of Spring Baptist Church-Klein Campus and an exceptional cook who would often stop by at the homes of her children and grandchildren to share a pot of homemade soup or a batch of brownies. Dawn sewed many of her own children’s outfits over the years, and she was an avid gardener who loved sitting on the patio and watching humming birds drink from the feeder she kept in the back yard.
She was preceded in death by parents William Archie Johnston and Alva Tolar Johnston of Choudrant, La.; daughter Carolyn Green Weaver of Ponchatoula, La.; husband Robert T. Green, Jr. of Spring, Texas; and son Robert T. Green, III of Spring, Texas. She is survived by daughter Andrea Green Ragas and husband Dennis of Harahan, La.; son John David Green and wife Laura of Spring, Texas; daughter-in-law Susan Green of Spring, Texas; grandson Dennis Joseph Ragas, III and wife Kasey of Harahan, La.; granddaughter Lauren Weaver Burke and husband James of Conroe, Texas; grandson Steven Lee Weaver and wife Abby of Spring, Texas; grandson Robert Thomas Green, IV and wife Amy of Spring, Texas; grandson Ryan Mitchell Green and wife Mary of Bandera, Texas; grandson Zachary David Green and granddaughter Margaret Lin Green of Spring, Texas; and great-grandchildren Kelsey Elise Ragas and Dennis Joseph Ragas, IV of Harahan, La. The family wishes to thank caregivers Vyvyan, Adria, and Denise, as well as hospice nurse, Regina, for their warmth and dedication.
